Augmented reality and it’s uses in the world

Augmented reality is a set of components that guarantees to construct a separate immersive partnership among smartphone buyers and their environs. It’s quick to manage AR seems like the newest tech to browse for an implementation, but a metaphor with fighter aircraft crews could perhaps assist.

Aircraft are looking via passenger cabin glass, or a drift face shield. From inside such substrates are treated to showcase consistent photos of pilot’s seat power as well as traffic information, a phenomenon named “head-up display.” Information, photographs and message demonstrate an interpretation of the actual life.

Gadgets nowadays can implement this fundamental notion often using advanced techniques and bring it to a new angle: gain understanding on the mechanical structure of the device to link the relevant information to the physical entities users could indeed perceive on the webcam: structures, sidewalks and memorials.

You can “enhance” the actuality you get through information from a multitude of distinct internet sites, along with Google scholar, Dailymotion, Linkedin, or advertising cable companies. Generally, a management software database works as an interface and drops down the extract showed that has been digitally scanned. The customer app requires the measurements to locate the information with the “location of contention” on the computer monitor.

Scanning statistics to a system is performed by utilizing the device’s geolocation information to track the coordinates, paired with the on-board sensor and gyroscope to determine the preferences of the mobile and the path where it is referring. Within the coming years, modeling can be decided to make extra straightforward and intimate by taking into account the location of the individual.

Network Environment columnist Mark Gibbs has currently studied the various methods obtained to assess the actual life example to figured out where to put improvements. He must have been enthralled perhaps by the U.S. mobile web Augmented reality app.

Post Office: The Virtual Box Simulator that allows you to confirm for certain if anything you need to transport fits through one of the Delivery company flat-rate packaging materials.

The rising curiosity in augmented reality is sparked by its opportunity for cell phone obtainers. Japan’s two largest wireless operators, NTT DoCoMo and KDDI, showed at the July tech conference an AR device populating websites on Android devices with symbols and details regarding hotels or several other spots near the participant’s place.

Over the last several days, an assortment of AR frameworks, apps and Software Development Kit have been rising in the retail sector; giving an increasing variety of programmers an opportunity to pursue how much can be achieved whenever an entity, location or individual is combined with relevant data.

This and the related methods are used in a number of commute and mapping programs, including in sports. Some of the “software packages” are nothing more than gimmicks, but the U.S. The Military used AR technologies in revolutionary military learning schemes as long ago as 2003. There’s a surge of product reviews bordering on blunt tackiness: both Popular Mechanics and Esquire generated problems where consumers may keep across from a Computer camera though an installed AR server, display external 2D or 3D pictures, animation and script which appear to jump out from the site.

Numerous different instances involve digital AR vending machines in department shops. Shoppers may keep a booklet or a merchandise container or bundle in front of a booth monitor to display a range of overlays and relevant content and outlets.

A variety of manufacturing AR systems, mostly with unique headsets or glasses, are built in order to offer experts, including technicians, with information photos and job details, such as speech, script and illustrations demonstrating what to do to mount a newer model on the vehicle. BMW now has YouTube “template” article demonstrating just that.

During an incident aired in 2009, Klopfer stated that amplified technology brings a tonne that simple simulated “technology” can’t be included in such sorts of severe sports.

In comparison, the AR dynamics were almost double as efficient in locating and beginning a maintenance project relative to the sample population using a helmet which only displayed script directions and then another group using a static desktop, as per the report.

What could we do with Mixed Reality?

Many years ago, we though a new world, the virtual world, and we enjoyed a lot of adventures in it. But today we are living in a world with experiences that previously would have been unimaginable and technological breakthroughs that have been impossible. A very interesting concept that took my attention was Mixed Reality, it is the result of introducing virtual objects into the real world.

Image result for mixed reality

Nowadays this is possible thanks to software and a lot of devices that allow us to merge these two worlds, for example your mobile phone or something more sophisticated and powerful like HoloLens. In the near future, this technology is going to grow faster and every year we have more features to implement. These will impact drastically in the market, changing the way that we see the world.

I have read many articles, watched a lot of videos, experimented with different libraries and I want to share with you what we could do with Mixed Reality. In order to answer this question, I made this list:

  • Interaction: we will be able to show a real size 3d models and manipulate them in different ways: zoom them in/out, move and rotate them and have a 360° view. Also we could decompose complex elements and see every piece.
  • Animations: all objects can be animated to explain concepts, actions or just guide a user in a process.
  • Artificial Intelligence: we could use artificial intelligence services to improve with new capabilities your app, such as speech recognition, or computer vision, or real-time translations. Also you could use the figure of a virtual assistant to enforce your interaction.
  • Anchors: we could fix an object in a specific place in the real world, so later you can find the object in the same place.
  • Sharing: we will be able to share a hologram in real time through different devices. This will impact the way that we learn and interact with others. Think in a teacher explaining to his students using holograms, this will be a revolution for education,
  • Gamification: we will be able to introduce the concept of gamification. Basically, this is a set of activities and processes to solve problems by using or applying the characteristics of games. For example, you could use this technique to encourage and motivate employees to level up in an internal training.

How to create a hologram in Android (MRTK + Unity)

Today I want to present how to create a mixed reality app for Android using MRTK and Unity. After several days of reading a lot of articles and documentation about MRTK, I summarized in these steps a simple way to get a hologram running in your Android device. I hope this is useful for you!

Before going deep into this tutorial, let’s check the prerequisites to build this app:

  • OS: Windows 10
  • IDEs
    • Visual Studio 2019 with the “Game development with Unity” module
    • Unity (v2019.2.17f1) with the following modules:
  • Mixed Reality Toolkit 2.2.0 unity packages (you can download them here):
    • Microsoft.MixedReality.Toolkit.Unity.Foundation.2.2.0.unitypackage
    • Microsoft.MixedReality.Toolkit.Unity.Providers.UnityAR.2.2.0.unitypackage

Once these are installed, we can start working!

First of all, we are going to create a new Unity project. In order to do that, open unity hub and select new:

On the next screen select a 3D project, a name and folder to save it:

Now, go to File → Build Settings and switch the platform to Android:

On Player Settings, go to Settings for Android → Other Settings and remove Vulkan from Graphic APIs list.

For the next step, we have to import the MRTK packages:

  • Microsoft.MixedReality.Toolkit.Unity.Foundation.2.2.0.unitypackage
  • Microsoft.MixedReality.Toolkit.Unity.Providers.UnityAR.2.2.0.unitypackage

And apply all default settings on this project:

Also we must add these packages from Windows → Package Manager

  • AR Foundation 2.0.2
  • ARCore XR Plugin 2.0.2
  • XR Legacy Input Helpers 1.0.0
  • Multiplayer HLAPI 1.0.4

Restart Unity to load all this new packages.

Once it has restarted, we need to configure MRTK in our scene. In order to do that, go to Mixed Reality Toolkit → Add to Scene and Configure. Doing this will add two components in our scene

Let’s select the new component MixedRealityToolkit and configure it on the Inspector.

Click in Copy & Customize button and clone the configurations. Now go to Camera and clone again a profile to customize its properties below. This will allow you to add a New Camera Setting Provider.

Into New Camera Settings 1, select the Type “Microsoft.MixedReality.Toolkit.Experimental.UnityAR → UnityARCameraSettings”

Once a camera is configured, we are going to add a 3D object in our scene (a cube for example) resize it to 0.5 and move our camera in front of it:

Finally, we are ready to build this solution and generate our APK!

Overview Of Azure Kinect

Pre-requisite Knowledge

Before we start with the understanding of what is Azure Kinect, we should know,

Background I would like to explain the short information about ‘Artificial Intelligence and Kinect’ before jumping in to ‘Azure Kinect’.

What is Artificial Intelligence

In simple words ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI)’ is the artificial creation of the system like a human who can observe, react, learn, plan and process the instructions, virtual reality and provide intelligence on it. It is rapidly emerging technology and internet enable technology. Sometimes AI is also called as Machine Learning.

What is Kinect and its background

Kinect is the motion sensor device using in Xbox 360 gaming console. This device provides natural user interface to interact with it without any intermediate device. This device has capability of face detection as well as the voice recognition. This device has 3D camera which creates the virtual images and with the help of motion sensor it detects the movements of the images. The first-generation Kinect for Xbox 360 was introduced in November 2010. This device was originally created for gaming purpose, but now a days this technology is applying to real worlds applications in the virtual shopping, education, healthcare industries, digital signage etc. This product is developed by Microsoft.

Introduction of Azure Kinect

As I explained above Kinect is the motion sensor device. Azure Kinect device has,

  1. DK camera system
